Goji Berries

Most people think of goji berries as a super food or some sort of super heroe of this and the next generation, but I personally find them mostly usefull for their cute look, small red sort of nature`s candies. Yes, those fruits do have antioxidants and lots of vitamins and minerals and a sour taste just like some of their relatives, beautiful and delicious forest fruits.

As I said before, I do believe that balance is the key in a healthy lifestyle and in maintaining focus and mind clarity so there is not a matter of specialness when we talk about specific good qualities of different plants but mostly a diversity aspect to also take care of. There are many good plant sources of quality nutrion so keep that in mind while experimenting with different foods and always remember to take a look at the bigger picture.

Goji berries can be used to make teas, smoothies, raw desserts and decorations so there are of course a lot of recipes that you can incorporate them in.

One lovely idea is to use them in raw bars and brownies. They look amazing on top of a raw vegan brownie, next to some coconut flakes.

One recipe that you can easily make at home is a raw goji brownie. All you need are the following ingredients:

1 cup hemp seeds

2-3 tbs cocoa powder

2-3 tbs agave nectar

1/2 cup dates

1/2 cup goji berries

2 tbs coconut oil

Coconut flakes or sesame seeds to decorate the brownies with.

Mix all the ingredients in a food processor, but keep the goji berries appart for now. When the mixture is done and it has a thick consistency add the goji berries and then spread it into a cake pan or press it into cookie shapes. Put some more goji berries on top and sprinkle it with some coconut flakes or sesame seeds, cinnamon powder and enjoy a bite of this yummi brownie.

Colorful and tasty, this recipe is really easy to make so enjoy the goodness of raw foods and share the wonderful flavors with your friends and loved ones.
