This is a topic that I come across pretty often, especially when it comes to meeting new people and, of course, when it comes to meeting and talking to people who are not really familiar with the raw vegan or vegan lifestyle. I usually like to keep it as simple as posible when my daily menu comes up as a discussion topic and describe a pattern that would actually be really easy to understand for people as well as easy to follow through when it comes to people who are interested in perhaps trying some vegan stuff out for themselves. I believe that this simplicity is a powerful tool because people tend to think it might be hard just because they do not know where to start from, so by keeping it simple we are also showing that it is not hard at all, but instead quite fun and easy to make conscious and vegan choices.
In the morning I like to have some tea after I wake up and I love to enjoy my tea while writting or reading some motivational things, journaling and so on. I generally have two meals every day: breakfast and lunch, and then only occasionaly if I feel that I am hungry in the evening I would have some fruits or nuts, seeds or dried fruits. On the average, I would say that 90% of the days is just two meals a day. I find this to work best for myself simply because I need most of the energy in the first half of the day and then in the afternoon I am not really consuming that much energy so this is why I find it useful to get my nutritional needs met in this way. Having two meals a day is also great for the digestive system and for the body as a whole because it gives our bodies more time to rest and restore and it is also a kind of fasting that does the body good as long as we are ok with it and it works for ourselves. So basically this is a matter of personal choice and I find myself to be enjoying it and embracing it most of the days.
For breakfast I usually have a smoothie and/or a nice and delicious bowl of mixed nuts and seeds, dried fruit and cereal flakes. I love to also add to my bowl all kinds of spices such as ginger or cinnamon, as well as delicious and nutritious super foods such as maca powder, baobab powder, spirulina and many more.
In between meals, meaning breakfast and lunch for myself, I like to drink lots of water, herbal teas such as green tea, black tea and other flavored teas. Sometimes I might also be enjoying some fruit water or some lemonade, but I usually like to keep it simple so I would be having water and green or black tea.
For lunch I usually have a salad with some delicious raw vegan or vegan dish, such as for example a soup or a pate or a veggie spread, while some other times I might be serving my salad with some rice or legumes and so on. Most of the times I an having a salad for lunch simply because I just love eating greens for lunch every single day. I might also be having soups, as I have already said but like 90% of the times if a salad with a vegan or raw vegan dish. For dessert, if I feel like I want something sweet afterward, I am generally having a raw vegan cake or some cookies, simple and delicious.
In the afternoon I am usually having some tea, such as green tea or black tea, which are my favorites and water as well, in order to keep myself hydrated. If it is late already I would be having some chamomile or mint tea and then as I have already said that s it for the day and this is how most of my days would look like simply because this is what I found to be the best fit for myself for the moment. Just in case I would sometimes be hungry in the afternoon I would get some fruit, dried fruits or nuts and seeds.
Making healthy and fulfilling choices on day to day basis is a habbit just like any other habbit and it requires repetition in order to became second nature, but as soon as our bodies and our minds get used to the new habbit, then everything unfolds naturally, in a healthy, balanced way. I truly believe that when we take care of our bodies and nourish ourselves with the most nutritious and fulfilling plant based foods available to us at all times, then we are really able to reach our full potential and live life to its fullest.
