Raw Vegan Traveler

Traveling is a part of all of our lives, even if we do it as a hobby or just as a duty, it is going to be present in our existence at some point and in order to do our best to stay healthy and feel great on the go I say that it is best to simply plan and prepare ahead of time so that we can then be able to get out the best of that specific experience. For me personally, it used to be a bit challenging, especially at first when I started to change my eating as well as my overall well being habits because I just kept asking myself lots of question and even worry about what am I going to eat, where am I going to get my food from and how and where am I going to do my walks, meditations and daily yoga practice. It seemed like a lot of struggle especially because I was putting so much pressure on myself, instead of trusting my inner guide, my inner wisdom, which would have definitely been so much easier, but as the years went by, I have learned to trust my inner guidance and go with the flow so that now I no longer have to worry about eating healthy or doing my practices even when I am on the go.

Speaking of my eating habits, I love to have my meals at pretty much the same hours and of course that does not have to change when I travel, what does change is that perhaps is I am travelling by a bus, I might not be having salad for lunch, but instead a smoothie and some rice cakes or raw vegan bars. The important thing here is the the nutritional import does not change, it just looks differently and I am going to balance this anyway by having the salad for lunch as soon as I get back to a setting that is salad friendly, so no worries about that. It is important to stay well nourished and choose foods that are also travel friends, and those are things like juices, smoothies, things that are easy to grab and go, fruits, nuts and seeds, nut bars, raw vegan bars and so on. When I arrive to the destination, even if I am not at home, I can still find the foods that I usually eat at the local food stores or health stores, or even at a local farmers market and prepare my foods just as I would do if I would be at home. The use of a blender or a food processor is not always necessary, we can always just chop the ingredients or make a pure by just using a fork. It is really that easy and simple, there is always one way in which we can improvise so that we can get our best of the meal even if we are not in our ideal environment.

When it comes to other habits, a very important thing for me is daily movement. I love to do yoga and walks daily. I found out that walking is really ease to integrate as it might already be a part of the traveling experience, or if it is not, I would just make time for it, exactly as I would do when I am at home, and for the yoga practice, I follow the same routine, I do it in the morning, before I start my day, so that I can be sure that I am grounded, focused and ready to embrace the day with a positive mind and as a flexible being, both in mind and body. Other things I love to do in the morning are drinking some tea, which is also travel friendly, journal and ready some affirmations and the good news are that those ones are also travel friendly so the only choice I have to make is to decide to make time for them and so them. Travel is a wonderful experience and it can be really a way of diving into a process of self exploration and growth, we get to see new things and how we react to those new things, and even if it is to a foreign are or it is just a journey to a place we love or to visit some of our loves ones, it can always be a change for learning and becoming the ones that we are really meant to be. Travel, explore, let go of fears and just trust that you are always guided and taken care of!
